John re-iterated Asheville Homeless Network proposal regarding criminalization of homelessness

Occupy Caravan arriveing next Saturday the 23rd. Help is needed w/ housing (jspitzb227@aol.com) and food (jonedoright@yahoo.com.) Folks interested in helping greet the caravan on Saturday email Kasha at kasha3d@charter.net. Public event will be Sunday 5:00 at Prichard Park, a parade to the Baha'i center, a meal there (6pm), a public assembly, and story sharing using Playback Theater. Lunch at Clare's for participants in OA and folks from the Caravan to meet and learn from each other starting at noon! If you are interested in organizing an action around banks/lending/foreclousers for Sunday the 24th email Tamara at tamarashap@gmail.com.

Big court date coming up on June 28th. OA participants are encouraged to attend to support defendents.

Mindful occupation meeting at the Wall St Coffee House on Thursday the 28th.

“Business Improvement District” meeting. Lots of people need to be there on Tuesday four council meeting. There will be a protest at 5:00 outside of city hall.
Water privatization: There will be an event on 6/16/12 at Firestorm to learn about the campaign around passing an ordinance to prevent water privatization.
Lisa Landis aka glolady was exonerated by a jury trial last week.
The Occupy Caravan will be coming through Asheville on the 23rd and 24th. Help needed with food and housing!
Media group has created an issues section of the website.
Meggen and Ryan will be addressing a meeting of the Internatioinal Association of Business and Society at a conference on corporate social responsibility.
The Deep Green Resistance tour will be will be in town on June 22nd.
Mindful Occupation. A space to learn about and practice self care, including listening to each other will have their next meeting on Thursday the 28th at Wall St Coffee.

Instead of our usual Saturday GA, the General Assembly of Occupy Asheville has decided to hold a special Spring Mindstorm gathering on May 19th at 3pm. Instead of having working group reports, discussing proposals, etc we will take this time to hear from everyone about what drew you to Occupy Asheville in the first place and what you are excited doing as part of Occupy Asheville in the future. It will be a chance for us to reconnect and re-unite remember the sense of excitement and hope we had in the fall and think about what we want to do together this summer. (Were not going to try to come to any decisions at this gathering, but hope that as we hear from each other we'll get excited about joining together to work on projects, actions, and campaigns either through existing working groups, caucuses, and affinity groups, or autonomously in solidarity with Occupy Asheville.)
